Randy Allen Engle Obituary - 2021 (2024)

Randy Allen Engle of Salem, Ohio passed away in Cape Canaveral Hospital on January 9, 2021. He was born in Canton, Ohio on November 28, 1946 to William and Dorothy Ruff Engle.

He was raised in New Alexander, Ohio and Attended Minerva Local and United Local Schools which he graduated from in 1965. Randy loved all sports, but football was his key to attending Muskingam College and playing for the Muskies.

Throughout college he worked at Sugardale meats in Canton, Ohio during summers. During his college years he married Linda Conser and they became parents to Diane and Jennifer.

Randy's first teaching job was in Alliance City Schools where he also coached football. During this time, he completed his Master's degree at Youngstown State University in School Administration. His first administrative job was at Southeast Local.

He went to Salem City Schools in 1976 as a high school administrator and moved into the central office as Assistant then Superintendent of schools from which he retired in 2000.

Randy was a big man with a big presence. He could be no nonsense or a big jovial man.

In 1983 he married Melissa Meissner Huffman who was also a teacher.

In his retirement He found joy in cooking delicious meals and decorating the outside of his home for every holiday. He also played Santa many years at children's parties and had a collection of Antique cars. He also was a great fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes and Salem Quakers.

Randy is survived by his wife, Melissa, daughter, Jennifer of Salem, 2 brothers Rick (Peg) Engle of Lebanon, Ohio and

Rex (Kim) Engle of Amherst, Ohio and their families. His sister in law, Linda (Ron) Ferguson of Kissimmee, and brother in law Frank (Barb) Meissner of Salem. For the past 8 years He enjoyed wintering in Cocoa Beach, Florida.
