Ayatul Kursi is recited in every home, and all Muslims memorize it for its great virtues in the Quran and its positive impact on their lives. People hang it in their cars or as decor in their house, seeking fortification against the devils and asking for Allah’s satisfaction and generosity.
This great verse was revealed in Madinah, and it’s said that all idols in the world fell for its revelation.. and all devils fled for its great stature for Allah. Also, it includes some of the great names of Allah: Allah, al haiy, qai-yoom, aliyyul ‘azeem.
Ayatul Kursi English Translation
This is Sahih international transltion for this verse
اللّهُ لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ هُوَ الْحَيُّ الْقَيُّومُ لاَ تَأْخُذُهُ سِنَةٌ وَلاَ نَوْمٌ لَّهُ مَا فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَمَا فِي الأَرْضِ مَن ذَا الَّذِي يَشْفَعُ عِنْدَهُ إِلاَّ بِإِذْنِهِ يَعْلَمُ مَا بَيْنَ أَيْدِيهِمْ وَمَا خَلْفَهُمْ وَلاَ يُحِيطُونَ بِشَيْءٍ مِّنْ عِلْمِهِ إِلاَّ بِمَا شَاء وَسِعَ كُرْسِيُّهُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالأَرْضَ وَلاَ يَؤُودُهُ حِفْظُهُمَا وَهُوَ الْعَلِيُّ الْعَظِيمُ
Allāh – there is no deity except Him, the Ever-Living, the Self-Sustaining. Neither drowsiness overtakes Him nor sleep. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and on the earth. Who is it that can intercede with Him except by His permission? He knows what is [presently] before them and what will be after them, and they encompass not a thing of His knowledge except for what He wills. His Kursī extends over the heavens and the earth, and their preservation tires Him not. And He is the Highest, the Greatest.

Allahu laaa ilaaha illaa huwal haiyul qai-yoom; laa taakhuzuhoo sinatunw wa laa nawm; lahoo maa fissamaawaati wa maa fil ard; man zallazee yashfa’u indahooo illaa be iznih; ya’lamu maa baina aideehim wa maa khalfahum; wa laa yuheetoona beshai ‘immin ‘ilmihee illa be maa shaaaa; wasi’a kursiyyuhus samaa waati wal arda wa la ya’ooduho hifzuhumaa; wa huwal aliyyul ‘azeem

Ayatul Kursi Benefits
There are many benefits to reading this surah, including
- It protects your home from the devils and Jinn.
- If you read it at night, Allah will guard your house against devils and prevents them from sneaking into your home until your wake up.
- It wards off the horrible nightmare.
- It fortifies your children from all harm.
- When you read it in the morning before going out and say ya hafiz three times, you’ll become in Allah’s guardianship until your return,
- It makes your heart delight, prevents sadness and distress, and secures your life, children, and money,
- When reciting it after each salat/prayer, you’ll get a great hasnat (reward).
- It protects the reciter from the envies, possessions, and spells. So, whoever reads it in the morning, Allah protects him until the evening, and whoever recites it in the evening, Allah will protect him until the morning.

Reciting Ayatul Kursi 100 Times
- It’s said that those who recite this verse 100 times for 40 nights in the morning and evening get great blessings. devils and jinn are expelled from their houses, and wales in the seas will ask Allah to forgive their sins- same with angles in the sky. Most remarkably, Allah will open up the doors of his pardaise so they can enter from any which they love,
- Also, Muslims get rewarded for every letter of this surah, and the reward is multiplied tenfold as prophet Mohammed said:
- Ibn Mas’ud (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, “Whoever recites a letter from the Book of Allah, he will be credited with a good deed, and a good deed gets a ten-fold reward. I do not say that Alif-Lam-Mim is one letter, but Alif is a letter, Lam is, and Mim is. [At- Tirmidhi].
Ayatul Kursi Meaning
- اللَّهُ لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ الْحَيُّ الْقَيُّومُ – Allāh – there is no deity except Him, the Ever-Living, the Self-Sustaining
God – SWT – called himself al-Hayy (living), which confirms that he does not die nor sleep or slumber, but is fully aware of all people’s affairs. Al qaiyoom means he sustains everything, and all creatures rely on him as he estimates all provisions and the source of every gift.
- لاَ تَأْخُذُهُ سِنَةٌ وَلاَ نَوْمٌ لَّهُ مَا فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ- Neither drowsiness overtakes Him nor sleep
It means Allah is observing everything, and he doesn’t ever sleep, even for a moment, or take a nap, and he owns and controls everything in the heavens and the earth, and all creatures submit to his power.
- مَن ذَا الَّذِي يَشْفَعُ عِنْدَهُ إِلاَّ بِإِذْنِهِ- Who is it that can intercede with Him except by His permission?
This means no one can have intercession except if he permits for him; even prophet Mohammed can’t intercede for believers without Allah’s approval- as he said in another verse: (And there are many angels in the heavens, whose intercession will avail nothing except after Allah has given leave for whom He wills and is pleased with).
- يَعْلَمُ مَا بَيْنَ أَيْدِيهِمْ وَمَا خَلْفَهُمْ وَلاَ يُحِيطُونَ بِشَيْءٍ مِّنْ عِلْمِهِ إِلاَّ بِمَا شَاء
It means Allah is fully aware of his servants and knows what they think of, their past, present, and future, and they don’t know anything except what he wanted them to learn. This verse asserts that all scientific facts humans discovered don’t surpass Allah’s limit for human knowledge.
- وَسِعَ كُرْسِيُّهُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالأَرْضَ وَلاَ يَؤُودُهُ حِفْظُهُمَا وَهُوَ الْعَلِيُّ الْعَظِيمُ
Kursī is a great creature placed over the seven heavens. Ibn abbas interpreted it as “Kursi is the footstool,” while some Muslim scholars think it’s the throne and what’s known is it’s independent of the throne and located over it. and وَلاَ يَؤُودُهُ حِفْظُهُمَا means Allah doesn’t feel fatigued as he secures the earth and heavens and what between them and it’s not a burden for him since he created everything from nothing, and he is high in his names, sultan, and power and all greatness is attributed to him.

Why Is It Called the Throne Verse?
Kursi is a symbol of rule and domination, and this verse holds in its meaning absolute divinity. Allah begins it with his great name ” Allah” and ends it with two of his noble names, and this verse elevates whoever reads it and secures those who memorized it to the highest ranks.
Which Surah Ayatul Kursi in The Quran?
Aya Kursi’s number is 255 in surah al baqarah, the longest surah in Quran revealed in Al Madinah.
Hadith About Ayatul Al Kursi Secrets
Many hadith imply the greatness of this verse and why Muslims should recite it for its virtues and effects on their lives.
The First Hadith.
Narrated ‘Abdullah bin Mas’ud:
“Allah has not created in the heavens nor the earth what is more magnificent than Ayat Al-Kursi.” Sufyan said: “Because Ayat Al-Kursi is the Speech of Allah, and Allah’s Speech is greater than Allah’s creation of the heavens and the earth.”
The Second Hadith
Narrated Abu Hurairah:
that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ): “For everything, there is a hump (pinnacle) and the hump (pinnacle) of the Qur’an is Surat Al-Baqarah, in it, there is an Ayah which is the master of the Ayat in the Qur’an; [it is] Ayat Al-Kursi.”

that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “Whoever recites Ha Mim Al-Mu’min – up to – To Him is the return (40:1-3) and Ayat Al-Kursi when he reaches (gets up in) the morning, he will be protected by them until the evening. And whoever recites them when he reaches the evening will be protected by them until the morning.”
The Fourth Hadith
Narrated Abu Huraira:
When you go to your bed, recite Ayat-al-Kursi, (2.255), for then there will be a guard from Allah who will protect you all night long, and Satan will not be able to come near you till dawn.
The Fifth Hadith
Narrated Abu Umamah (RA):
Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said: “Whoever recites Ayat al-Kursi at the end of every obligatory prayer, nothing but death will prevent him from entering Paradise.” [An-Nasa’i reported it, and Ibn Hibban graded it Sahih (authentic).
The Sixth Hadith:
Narrated Aifa‘ b. ‘Abd al-Kilā‘
” a man who asked God’s messenger which sūra of the Qur’ān was greatest and was told that it is “Say, He is God, One.” He asked which verse of the Qur’ān was greatest and was told that it was the Throne Verse, “God, there is no god but He, the Living, the Eternal.” He asked God’s prophet which verse he would like to bring good to him and his people and was told, ‘‘The end of sūra al-Baqara, for it is one of the treasures of God’s mercy from under His Throne which He gave to this people, and there is no good in this world and the next which it does not include.”
